Assistant Electrical Designer
Location: Charlotte, NC
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Position Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Electrical Designer for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our client in Charlotte, NC. This position will support electrical engineering and design teams in developing drawings, layouts, schematics, and construction documentation for a variety of projects.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with electrical designs including power systems, lighting systems, protection and controls, schematics, grid plans, and site/facility layouts.
Prepare and revise engineering drawings using sketches, redlines, markups, verbal instructions, and engineering information.
Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software to develop accurate project drawings and design deliverables.
Assist with electrical CAD setup, configurations, and project-specific drafting standards.
Support design layouts, basic calculations, and sizing of electrical system components.
Review drawings, reports, and technical information to support project design requirements.
Apply applicable design codes, specifications, and project standards.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other disciplines to resolve design and drawing issues.
Complete assigned design deliverables within established scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
Maintain organized project drawings, revisions, plot files, and related documentation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following:
Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology or a related field with 2+ years of related experience; or
Associate degree with 3+ years of related experience; or
4+ years of progressive detailing and design experience.
Additional Requirements
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Excel.
Experience utilizing both 2D and 3D design applications.
Basic knowledge of electrical design, calculations, and design systems.
Understanding of engineering and design concepts and multidisciplinary project coordination.
Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
