Our client, a reputable healthcare provider operating a skilled nursing facility and Residential Care Home in Connecticut, is hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing. Ensure the highest standards of resident care and compliance by overseeing nursing operations in a dual-role facility that adheres to federal, state, and local regulations. This pivotal leadership role supports the Director of Nursing in managing daily nursing functions, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering a high-quality resident experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing daily nursing operations in accordance with all relevant standards and regulations.
- Allocate staffing and resources efficiently to promote residents physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless resident care and collaborate with healthcare professionals, government agencies, and advocacy organizations.
- Develop, review, and implement nursing policies and procedures aligning with current standards and regulations.
- Conduct assessments of resident needs, develop person-centered care plans, and monitor medication administration and treatment schedules for compliance.
- Schedule and perform routine resident rounds to monitor care quality and respond to urgent nursing needs.
- Participate in the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of nursing staff, delegating responsibilities to charge nurses and nurse supervisors.
- Oversee documentation, licensing status of nursing personnel, and compliance with infection prevention and safety standards.
- Contribute to quality assurance, performance improvement (QAPI), and facility inspections, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Assist in budgeting and procurement of equipment and supplies for nursing services.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a nursing degree; current active RN license in Connecticut required.
- Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting, preferably within a nursing care facility or hospital.
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in rehabilitative and restorative care practices.
- Strong knowledge of nursing practices, federal and state regulations pertinent to long-term care, and quality standards.
- Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and organizational skills with the ability to supervise and mentor staff effectively.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and implement compliance strategies.
- Proficiency in English, with excellent communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
- Physical capacity to perform duties including lifting up to 25 pounds, standing, walking, and responding to emergency situations.
- Valid drivers license and access to transportation are not required, as this is an on-site position.
- Additional experience with developing staff training programs and participating in facility surveys is preferred.
