    Position Overview

    We are seeking a compassionate, experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) with a primary focus on Infection Prevention and Quality Assurance in a rural longterm care community.

The ADON supports the Director of Nursing in daily operations and provides leadership continuity in the DON’s absence, while ensuring regulatory compliance and safe, residentcentered care.

    Primary Responsibilities Infection Prevention & Resident Safety

    • Serve as the facility’s Infection Preventionist
    • Conduct and document daily infection control rounds
    • Track, trend, and report infection control outcomes
    • Ensure compliance with CDC guidelines and state/federal regulations
    • Support survey readiness and corrective actions related to infection control
    • Communicate findings clearly to leadership and care team members

    Quality Assurance & QAPI

    • Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts
    • Complete required nursing audits (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly)
    • Audit:
      • Admissions
      • Medication and Treatment Records
      • Medication and Treatment Carts
      • Nurse Aide documentation
      • Meal consumption documentation
    • Develop practical, achievable action plans focused on improving resident outcomes
    • Report findings to the Administrator, DON, and leadership team
    • Utilize OIG critical pathways to support compliance

    Nursing Leadership & Support

    • Assist with oversight of clinical operations and nursing practices
    • Support staff education, competency, and regulatory compliance
    • Rotate on the nurse oncall schedule and assist on the floor as needed
    • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including rehab, dietary, social services, and activities
    • Participate in care planning and resident outcome discussions

    Qualifications

    • Registered Nurse (RN) with active Kentucky license
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Minimum 3 years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred
    • Longterm care, geriatric, or rural healthcare experience preferred
    • Strong knowledge of infection control and regulatory requirements
    • MDS experience preferred
    • Organized, approachable, and able to make sound independent decisions
    • Comfortable working in a handson, teamoriented rural setting

    Additional Requirements

    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • Must be free of any felony or misdemeanor related to abuse, neglect, or misappropriation
    • Ability to build trust and positive relationships with residents, families, and staff
