Assistant Director of Internships
Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid)
Duration: September 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027 (Approx. 9-Month Contract)
Schedule: Full-Time (30–35 Hours per Week, 7 hrs per day)
Job Summary:
Our client, a leading university in the Boston area, is seeking a Temporary Assistant Director of Internships to support its Career Development Office. This role will assist in developing internship programs, streamlining operational processes, implementing a new internship management platform, and supporting employer engagement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have experience in higher education, career services, internship coordination, student services, employer relations, or program management, with strong organizational and project coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director of Internships and Industry Partnerships to support internship initiatives and program development.
- Develop and improve internship procedures, documentation, workflows, and operational processes.
- Assist with the implementation of a new internship management platform, including staff training and ongoing support.
- Coordinate communications with employers, students, and internal stakeholders regarding internship programs.
- Support a nonprofit internship program by:
- Responding to employer inquiries.
- Promoting internship opportunities.
- Tracking program budgets and funding allocations.
- Processing and monitoring student applications through multiple program cycles.
- Assist with internship program planning and operational support for upcoming internship seasons.
- Maintain program records, reports, and documentation.
- Collaborate with employer engagement and internship teams to ensure successful program delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience in higher education, career services, student affairs, internship programs, workforce development, nonprofit administration, or program coordination.
- Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with students, employers, or internship programs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience learning or implementing new software platforms is a plus.
