Overview

Northern Illinois University (NIU) is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Football Video Operations. This is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits.

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Football Video Operations assists the Director of Football Operations and Director of Football Media with all aspects of the football program's video operations, technology systems, creative media, and internal football operations. Responsibilities include coordinating the filming, editing, organization, distribution, and maintenance of practice, game, and opponent video utilizing DVSport and related video technologies; maintaining football video equipment, computer hardware, software, servers, and audiovisual systems; and ensuring coaches and student-athletes have timely access to film and video resources that support player development, game preparation, self-scouting, and opponent analysis.

This position requires the ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as frequent travel for team competition, recruiting activities, football camps, postseason competition, and other football-related events.

The position reports directly to the Director of Football Operations and Director of Football Media, with oversight from the Head Football Coach, to ensure alignment across football operations, technology, creative media, and program administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Content Creation

  • Assists with the production of highlight videos, recruiting materials, motivational content, graphic design, digital media, and other multimedia projects that support the football program's recruiting, branding, and internal communications.

Football Daily Operations

  • Supports the overall operation of the football program through the coordination of football camps, clinics, special events, community outreach initiatives, alumni functions, and other operational projects as assigned.
  • Assists with student-athlete development initiatives, leadership programming, and internal organizational needs while collaborating with Athletics administration, compliance, sports medicine, equipment, communications, marketing, and other campus partners to support the overall mission of NIU Football.
  • Assists with the training, scheduling, and supervision of graduate assistants, interns, student workers, and part-time staff supporting football video operations while ensuring adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Supports the daily operational needs of the football program and performs other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach, Director of Football Operations, and Director of Football Media to advance the goals and success of NIU Football.

Video Operations

  • Supports the day-to-day operation of the football program's video systems and technology, including managing practice and game-day video operations, maintaining opponent film databases, coordinating technology needs for home and away contests, and assisting with the implementation of emerging video and analytical technologies.

Football Game Day Operations

  • The position will also be assigned game-day responsibilities and operational duties as designated by the Head Football Coach, Director of Football Operations, and Director of Football Media.

Minimum Required Qualifications (SPS)

  • Bachelor's degree
  • One (1) year of experience in college or professional football (playing, coaching, or support staff).
  • One (1) year of work experience working with Catapult XO's or DVSport Video editing software in college or professional football.
  • One (1) year of work experience with creative video &/or audio editing (social media, highlight films, tv & news production).

  • Master's degree
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in NCAA Division I or professional football
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with Adobe Premiere software
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with Adobe Photoshop software
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with football video exchange software (Dragonfly, Hudl, or XOs)
  • Minimum 1 year experience of social media creation and account management (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
