Title: Assistant Director of Food and Nutrition Services
Qualifications:
Reports To: Director of Food and Nutrition Services
Supervises: Food Service Department staff as assigned
Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Food and Nutrition Services supports the Director in administering and overseeing departmental operations, including personnel management and training, budgeting, menu planning, procurement, regulatory compliance, financial accountability, food safety, and equipment and inventory management. The Assistant Director assists with the administration of the National School Lunch, School Breakfast, Child and Adult Care Food, and Summer Food Service Programs and helps ensure high- quality, efficient, and financially responsible services that support student health and wellbeing.

Food & Nutrition Services Management A. Assists with implementation, documentation, and accountability of the National School Lunch, Breakfast, and Food Distribution Programs.
B. Develops and ensures all aspects of the District's catering operations, including planning, preparation, service, and billing are implemented. C. Supervises the day-to-day operations of the District's vending program. D. Assists in menu/a la carte costing and pricing. E. Assists with menu planning in coordination with National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and District policies F. Other Responsibilities A. Assists with the development of department procedures and makes recommendations regarding District policies and negotiated agreements. B. Implements the District's hiring, evaluation, and employee investigation/discipline procedures and policies for all designated staff. C. Builds relationships with all staff members, promotes a team-oriented environment, and maintains high standards of accountability. D. Develops and maintains successful, cooperative relationships union leadership and the general public. E. Participates in professional growth opportunities (e.g., attends regional, state, and national professional conferences, reads professional publications, etc.). F. Travels between District campuses and other sites as needed. G. Models the attributes of an effective District leader, including demonstrating ethical actions, positive demeanor, collaborative working relationships, and a connection to community agencies that support schools. H. Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound professional judgment in all aspects of work. I. Performs all other duties necessary to the position and such other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: Compensation, benefits, and contract terms as established by the Board of Education
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Food & Nutrition Services in accordance with the District's evaluation procedures
Pension System: Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF)
