Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of Economic Development is currently seeking a talented, highly qualified executive to serve as Assistant Director in one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. The Assistant Director will serve on the Department's Executive Team with the Executive Director and the Deputy Director. The Assistant Director will oversee the planning and execution of the business attraction and retention programs, with a special emphasis on new transit-oriented developments.

The Assistant Director's primary responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring high-quality attraction and retention prospect pipelines
  • Converting projects into "wins"
  • Cultivating a high-achieving business development team
  • Creating an impactful international business attraction strategy
  • Implementing an industry cluster strategy that responds to the market
  • Maintaining strong relationships with external organizations and partners
  • Staffing the Economic Development Advisory Commission
  • Managing the lifecycle of incentives from initial review through performance tracking

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in business, Public Administration or department- related area. Five (5) years of directly related, progressively responsible work experience including three (3) years in a supervisory or management role preferably in a government setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. IEDC certification preferred.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful background checks to include criminal, credit, and driving record checks.

The Assistant Director should have experience with:

  • Building and maintaining productive relationships with corporate and community stakeholders.
  • Leading complex initiatives or special projects.
  • Managing budgets.
  • Presenting to public entities or governing bodies.
  • Using Customer Relationship Management software
  • Understanding complex policies and regulations

Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work as required.
