The Assistant Director of Early Colleges (12 months) serves in a key leadership role within the Secondary Partnerships team, providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and direct support for dual enrollment initiatives that expand access to college coursework for high school students. This position supports both North Carolinas Cooperative Innovative High School (CIHS) and Career and College Promise (CCP) programs, ensuring high-quality services and seamless enrollment experiences for students, school partners, and college stakeholders.
Reporting to the Director of Secondary Partnerships, the Early College Assistant Director provides leadership, mentorship, and operational oversight for assigned dual enrollment initiatives. This individual collaborates closely with high school administrators, school counselors, faculty, and CCCC personnel to develop, implement, and continuously improve policies, procedures, and services that promote student success, operational excellence, and strong educational partnerships.
The Early College Assistant Director serves as the primary liaison between Central Carolina Community College and Harnett Early College, providing leadership, strategic planning, and operational oversight for all early college initiatives. This position is responsible for fostering collaborative partnerships with high school administrators, faculty, staff, and college stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation, continuous improvement, and overall effectiveness of the Cooperative Innovative High School (CIHS) program. In addition, the Early College Assistant Director supports broader dual enrollment initiatives through the Career and College Promise (CCP) program. As assigned by the Director of Secondary Partnerships, this position may manage a caseload of CCP and CIHS students, providing advising, enrollment, student success support, and case management while assisting with the implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of dual enrollment operations across the colleges service area.
The Early College Assistant Director is assigned to work at Harnett Early College and other partner sites as assigned.
Travel required within the service area.
Some evening/night work required (i.e. parent nights at high schools).
This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required.
Essential Duties
Advising Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of the dual-enrollment program, fostering strong partnerships with LEAs, providing comprehensive student support, ensuring compliance with college and state policies, and coordinating enrollment, advising, and student success initiatives.
Serve as the initial point of contact for CCCC enrollment services and program information.
Assist students and families in navigating CCCC admissions policies and procedures; answer specific inquiries, maintain contact with prospective students, and ensure completion of application materials of students in the dual enrollment program.
Assess prospective student admission data such as test scores and placement information, review transcripts from high schools, and evaluate other relative documentation for eligibility into college pathways.
Work with students one-on-one to plan and reach career and educational goals, referring them to appropriate academic programs and or short-term training options.
Provide academic and career guidance regarding skills, interests, and personality traits.
Provide college and career advising and register students in courses per college pathways and policies.
Ensure students receive timely interventions, support services, and proactive outreach based on academic performance and engagement.
Report bi-weekly grade updates to assigned high schools for all dual-enrolled students.
Update and submit enrollment records every semester as required by system-office policy.
Engage students, counselors, faculty, parents, and other stakeholders as appropriate in information sessions related to college success and dual-enrollment options.
Support college activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies.
Engage students in co-curricular career community activities to foster student development and establish a sense of belonging.
Actively serve on college committees as appointed.
Celebrate student achievement at graduation ceremonies and other recognitions.
Attend departmental, divisional, and collegewide meetings, as directed by the Director of Secondary Partnerships.
Work with the secondary partnership team to ensure college enrollment goals are met and college pathway materials and instructional supplies are distributed.
Engage in a minimum of 5 hours of professional development each year.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Secondary Partnerships.
Leadership Responsibilities
Provide direct supervision of Early College Liaison(s) including coaching, mentoring, and conducting annual performance evaluations in accordance with College policies and procedures.
Coordinate and lead department-wide area of focus to support system-wide dual-enrollment operations. Areas of responsibility may include Marketing and Outreach, Digital Content, or Slate Communications. This includes collaborating with campus partners to develop, implement, assess, and continuously improve strategies, resources, and processes that enhance program effectiveness and student engagement.
Coordinate the development of early college course schedules and collaborate with college and school partners to build class sections that align with student needs and institutional priorities.
Plan, facilitate, and early college meetings to ensure consistent communication, collaboration, and implementation of program initiatives.
Plan, facilitate and lead professional development for advisors.
Train, onboard, and mentor new advisors ensuring consistency in advising practices, compliance, and service delivery.
Conduct regular audits of advisors early college tracking spreadsheets and related documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with college and state reporting requirements.
Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving advising concerns, coordinating operational issues, and ensuring consistent implementation of dual-enrollment policies and procedures.
Foster strong collaborative relationships with school district leaders, principals, counselors, instructors, and College personnel to support student success and strengthen secondary partnerships.

Slate (Customer Relationship Management - CRM) - Used daily for advising management, student communication, application processing, reporting, and data collection.
Standard Office Equipment (Printers, Scanners, Computers, Tablets) - Used as needed for document processing, advising support, and administrative tasks.
Virtual Meeting Platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet) - Used frequently for team meetings, college meetings, and other collaborative sessions.

Knowledge of college and career planning, including familiarity with CCP or similar dual-enrollment programs.
Demonstrated ability to manage student caseloads, maintain accurate records, and monitor academic progress.
Ability to collaborate effectively with K-12 and postsecondary stakeholders to support student success and align program goals.
Experience leading presentations and information sessions for events in a professional setting.
Proficiency with technology, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), Student Information Systems (SIS), and/or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
Preferred Requirements
Academic and career advising or related experience at the post-secondary level.
Advanced knowledge of career advising and workforce development pathways.
Extensive experience working in a high school setting.
