    Summary

    The Assistant Director, Calling and Career Office (CCO) seeks to engage the campus (students, faculty, and staff) in areas of vocation (calling) and career. Utilizing an understanding of a variety of work environments (corporate, professional, non-profit, ministry, etc), the Assistant Director, CCO serves as a liaison between the campus and employers to connect students to people and experiences that guide them in discerning a faithful response to God's call.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    This position is primarily responsible to:

    • Testify to personal experience of salvation in Jesus Christ, affirm belief in the University's Statement of Faith, abide by and practice our Life Together Covenant, and both personally agree with and support the Foundational Documents of Taylor University.
    • Guide students in vocation and major exploration, and all aspects of the job and internship search process.
    • Collaborate with CCO professional staff and student interns to plan, advertise, and implement CCO programs and events.
    • Engage academic departments and faculty in connections for CCO opportunities.
    • Facilitate and maintain connections with employers.
    • Represent Taylor University as a member of the College Career Consortium of Indiana.
    • Manage the CCO online platform used for scheduling appointments, event awareness, and job board connecting students to potential employers.
    • Collect assessment data for the CCO annual report and for assessment of program and service effectiveness.
    • Plan and facilitate presentations and workshops.
    • Serve as co-instructor for courses offered by the CCO.
    • Recruit, train, and supervise CCO student interns.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Typical Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree with a major or concentration in a relevant field, required. Relevant fields include Management, HR, Psychology, or Communications, or similar. Preference given to candidates holding a Master's degree (in Business, Leadership, or Higher Education, or related field).
    • At least two years of higher education / student development, preferred.
    • Professional experience in career development, preferred.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Excellent and effective professional and interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with others from varying cultures and backgrounds.
    • Understanding of a variety of work environments (gained through professional experience or education), and ability to articulate differences in professional work contexts.
    • Ability to represent Taylor University well to internal and external stakeholders and guests.
    • Excellent management skills with the ability to mentor students in their professional development.
    • Competent in using various computer software, including Microsoft Office suite.
    • Collaborative team player who can also work independently.

    Special Requirements:

    • Physical Demands: No or limited physical effort is required.
    • Work Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior / office work environment.
    • Environmental Condition: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
