HILLSIDE SCHOOL
Hillside is a premier junior boarding school providing exceptional academic opportunities to a diverse population of young adolescent boys in grades four through nine in preparation for secondary school. We are currently seeking a facilities technician to join the school’s administrative team.
Qualified candidates need to be professional, detailed-oriented, and organized, and willing to work in a fast-paced team environment.
POSITION PURPOSE
Under general supervision, provides support for the maintenance related needs of all campus buildings and grounds.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides general and detailed maintenance (either with direct or indirect supervision), patching, painting, hardware repairs and carpentry repairs.
Performs routine facility and equipment maintenance.
Performs routine daily inspections of assigned buildings, vehicles and spaces.
Performs general landscaping and snow removal duties around the school
Serve as bus driver/student transportation as needed
Other duties as assigned.
Respond to emergency call-ins during storms or natural disasters that require grounds to be cleared of debris, snow or ice
Assists and serves as back up to other Facilities employees.
Incumbent is designated as an essential staff member and required to work during periods of extreme weather and in other emergency situations. This may include snow removal and or responding to storm damage.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Plus ad hoc hours. Extra hours may be requested to cover extraordinary circumstances or special events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Work Experience:
High School diploma +
Completion of Trade School training a plus.
At least two years of verifiable experience maintaining various building interior and exterior surfaces, including drywall, painting, trim work, flooring, siding, hardware installation etc.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to use basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and custodial hand and electric powered tools.
Good verbal and written communication skills, with ability to receive and respond to work assignments in both formats.
Strong command of the English language both spoken and written. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Read, comprehend, and work from plans and operating instructions.
Follow oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships.
Physical: Heavy physical demands; work is performed indoors and in outdoors environments; requires constant physical efforts in performing maintenance and repair projects, and ability to lift and move items weighing up to seventy (70) pounds.
