Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in academic counseling or advising plus three (3) years experience in a supervisory role of personnel, including hiring and training.
  • Experience in budget management.
  • Excellent leadership, organization and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of university academic policy and curricula. Five years of collegiate academic advising experience.

Position Details Position Purpose

As the School of Nursing (SON) has continued to grow, so has the number of advisers and programs. The Assistant Director of Advising will be responsible for the day-to-day operational needs for advising services. The Assistant Director will be instrumental in developing and supporting targeted initiatives aimed at enhancing nursing-specific orientations, registration, academic progress, and overall academic success. In addition to managing an advising caseload, the Assistant Director will focus on increasing the retention and success of both graduate and undergraduate nursing students. The Assistant Director will support the Director in leading initiatives to enhance our advising services, ensuring that all students receive personalized guidance throughout their academic journey.
