Assistant Director of Advertising and Sales
View Newspaper Group, headquartered in Lapeer, Mich. is Michigan's largest locally-owned independent newspaper publisher with 22 community newspapers serving readers and businesses in 14 Michigan counties with printed editions reaching more than 350,000 households by U.S. Mail each week. Since our founding in 2003, View Newspaper Group has grown steadily through start-ups and acquisitions and we intend to maintain that growth.
We recently established the role of Co-Publisher and Director for our top three leaders to allow those leaders to focus respectively on Editorial and Branding, Graphic Design and Operations, and Advertising and Sales. As we prepare for our next phase of growth we have identified our need for an Assistant Director of Advertising and Sales.
Work with Director of Advertising and Sales and our sales team to:
Identify, prospect, and close new local business opportunities
Account Management: Manage and grow an established list of active clients, while creating new business ensuring their long-term success and ROI. Large part of this position is to be out in the market creating new business.
Consultative Selling: Act as a marketing consultant for local business owners, helping them solve business challenges through creative advertising strategies.
Community Representation: Serve as a visible brand ambassador for View Newspaper Group at local events, service clubs and nonprofit organizations (by attending local events, service clubs and nonprofit organizations, and business functions)
3+ years media sales experience required
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous Team Leader or supervisory experience preferred
Communication, leadership, collaboration and project management skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to consistently hit deadlines and goals
Self-motivated and ability to work under pressure
Ability to remain informed of competitive conditions
Combination of base salary, commission and bonuses to earn upwards of $100,000 annual
