Assistant Director of Accounting
A large, established organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Accounting to help lead accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and a team of accounting professionals.

What You'll Be Responsible For:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and general ledger activities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes
- Ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP, GASB, and applicable regulations
- Oversee internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
- Review reconciliations and financial activity for accuracy and compliance
- Oversee accounting related to organizational assets
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting and support staff
- Participate in hiring, performance management, training, and employee development
- Partner with IT and leadership on financial system enhancements, upgrades, and implementations
- Coordinate annual audits and related financial reporting
- Serve as a financial resource to internal departments and organizational leadership
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, standardize procedures, and improve efficiency
- Support strategic initiatives and special accounting projects
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 3+ years of experience managing or supervising accounting professionals
- Government, education, or public-sector accounting experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices
- Understanding of GAAP, GASB, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Experience working with large, integrated financial systems
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent advanced training
- CPA preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Hands-on and collaborative management style
- Comfortable leading teams through change, system improvements, and process enhancements
Salary: $103K–$125K
