Bachelor's degree in related field (Education, Higher Education, Psychology, Student Affairs, or similar). Eight years of experience in higher education, academic programming, student success initiatives, or related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Assists the Director of Academic Outreach and Recovery with strategic planning and oversight of the Academic Recovery program. Performs advanced complex managerial and instructional work providing strategic direction, guidance, and oversight in the design, assessment, and delivery of academic recovery courses and services.
Primary Responsibilities
Assists the Director in establishing the strategic plan, goals, and objectives for the Academic Recovery program. Directs program strategy and provides oversight for implementation of academic recovery courses (UNIV 2001, UNIV 3001) and related student support services. Develops and implements techniques for evaluating program activities and student learning outcomes. Establishes goals and objectives for program improvement and student engagement. Approves standards and priorities for achieving program goals. Develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures related to the academic recovery program and oversees compliance. Identifies areas of needed change and makes recommendations to improve program operations and student outcomes. Directs evaluation of program activities and staff performance. Works with the Director to develop and approve budget expenditures. Evaluates the work of professional and student staff and provides performance feedback. Oversees the preparation of management and productivity reports and studies related to program outcomes and effectiveness. Guides programs focusing on continuous process improvement. Reviews reports and studies and recommends actions based on findings. Establishes and maintains strategic partnerships with academic departments, the Registrar's office, advising services, and other campus units at the leadership level. Represents the Academic Recovery program to senior institutional leadership and at business meetings and campus events. Participates in hiring, evaluation, and termination decisions regarding program staff in collaboration with the Director. Performs other duties as assigned.
