Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds Community College is seeking a dynamic and student-focused professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Academic Advising & Transfer Services. The Assistant Director serves as the operational lead for advising delivery at the Parham Road and Kitchens campuses, ensuring effective staffing, service coverage, and workflow execution across all advising functions. This role supervises advising staff and is responsible for fostering a high-performing, student-centered team through intentional training, coaching, and professional development. The position ensures that advising operations are efficient, consistent, and aligned with institutional expectations by integrating people, processes, and technology. This includes supporting the effective use of EAB Navigate to enhance service delivery, streamline communication, and support proactive student engagement. The Assistant Director cultivates a collaborative and accountable work environment, promotes cross-functional coordination, and ensures clarity in roles, expectations, and performance outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic advising practices, student development theory, and higher education student support models
  • Understanding of transfer processes, curricular pathways, and enrollment services operations
  • Ability to accurately interpret and apply institutional policies, academic requirements, and student success strategies
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience, including managing daily operations and overseeing staff performance
  • Experience coordinating staff training, development, and fostering a collaborative, accountable team environment
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs partners
  • Proficiency in student success technologies (e.g., EAB Navigate or similar systems), including outreach campaigns, early alerts, and appointment management
  • Experience using data and technology to inform decision-making, improve service delivery, and support student retention and completion goals
  • Strong communication skills, cultural competency, sound judgment, and a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and professional development

Additional Considerations:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with coursework in counseling, student affairs, higher education, or a related field.
  • Progressive experience working with a variety of individuals in an advisory or counseling capacity; and experience working in a college environment with EAB Navigate.
