In the Office of Student Financial Services, Financial Aid, the primary responsibility of the Assistant Director of Technology is to supports the operational management and continuous improvement of financial aid systems within Student Financial Services at Georgia State University. This role focuses on ensuring effective system functionality, supporting financial aid processing, and enhancing business operations through technology. The Assistant Director supervises a Senior Financial Aid Counselor and Business Systems Analyst, providing day-to-day leadership, prioritization, and oversight of system-related tasks and initiatives. This position partners closely with campus IT and functional teams to support system enhancements, compliance requirements, and student service delivery.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Technology Operations & System Support: Support daily operations of financial aid systems, including Ellucian Banner and related platforms; monitor system performance and assist in resolving issues in collaboration with IT partners; and participate in system testing, upgrades, and annual financial aid processing setup.
  • Financial Aid Systems & Processing Support: Assist with configuration and maintenance of financial aid processes, including packaging rules, fund setup, and tracking requirements; support data exchanges between systems such as Banner, Student Financial Success (CampusLogic), and Department of Education platforms; and help ensure timely and accurate processing of financial aid in compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies.
  • Process Improvement & Implementation: Identify opportunities to improve workflows and reduce manual processing; support implementation of system enhancements and process updates; and collaborate with functional teams to translate business needs into system solutions.
  • Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise and provide guidance to a Senior Financial Aid Counselor and Business Systems Analyst; assign and prioritize work, ensuring timely completion of tasks and projects; and support staff development and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a liaison between Student Financial Services and IT or external vendors; participate in cross-functional initiatives related to system improvements and student experience; and provide input on system needs and operational challenges.
  • Data & Reporting Support: Support data integrity and assist with reporting needs related to financial aid processing; and utilize tools such as Argos or similar reporting platforms to support operational insights.

Qualifications

:

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

A bachelor''s degree and three years or related experience, or a combination of education and experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating:

  • Experience in higher education or Student Financial Services

  • Familiarity with Banner or similar student information systems

  • Experience with reporting tools or basic SQL

  • Support data integrity and assist with reporting needs related to financial aid processing

  • Utilize tools such as Argos or similar reporting platforms to support operational insights

  • collaborative, energetic and resourceful work style.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and conflict-resolution skills

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.

  • Ability to multi-task; pay attention to detail; and exhibit excellent customer service skills.

  • Five years of management experience in financial aid or state aid office.

  • Proven ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.

  • Ability to manage high-stress interactions in an ever-changing environment with professionalism
