Position Description
The Assistant Director, ERP provides strategic and operational leadership for the Countys Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment, including day-to-day ERP operations, resources, communications, stakeholder engagement, and program governance. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this position works closely with Information Technology directors and managers across applications, project management, infrastructure, and security to align ERP services with leadership vision and organizational strategy. The role oversees the development, implementation, and support of PeopleSoft and related enterprise applications and integrations supporting business processes including human resources, payroll, and finance. The position also provides strategic direction, coaches and mentors team members, and is accountable for ERP functional and departmental results.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Defines and executes the ERP strategy, aligning enterprise systems with organizational goals and identifying opportunities for improvement and business transformation.
Leads day-to-day ERP operations and manages managers, functional resources, and support resources responsible for PeopleSoft and other enterprise applications.
Provides overall direction and guidance to assigned project managers; reviews project requests and coordinates schedules, resources, and departmental activities.
Communicates and coordinates cross-functionally with business stakeholders, key business units, and departmental leadership regarding strategic initiatives, major projects, priorities, and critical issues.
Ensures successful and timely delivery of project initiatives by engaging stakeholders, managing expectations, coordinating resource allocation, supporting change management, and aligning work with departmental goals and key performance indicators.
Establishes controls, governance, standards, and processes to ensure priorities, production issues, project work, and unplanned outages are appropriately managed and addressed.
Oversees systems analysis and programming activities that enable enterprise business processes and supports the development, acquisition, adaptation, and integration of application software.
Supports feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, and projections for software and hardware requirements.
Directs personnel management and development activities, including performance management, compensation considerations, recruiting, coaching, mentoring, resource planning, and identification of skill or training gaps.
Manages and partners with vendors, including addressing service challenges, reviewing contract and service-level expectations, and identifying changes needed to support future requirements.
Develops and manages annual capital and operating expense budgets; monitors budget performance, future initiatives, vendor and consultant delivery, and opportunities for cost effectiveness.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides formal supervision and leadership for ERP staff, including managers and other regular employees.
Responsibilities include assigning and scheduling work, setting goals and objectives, approving timecards, evaluating performance, signing performance reviews, conducting interviews, making hiring and promotion decisions as a panel chairperson, and providing performance counseling and disciplinary direction.

Experience:
Minimum ten (10) years of experience involving enterprise systems management, ERP systems architecture, data integration, business process management, team leadership, change management, and/or business transformation.
Three (3) to five (5) years of functional support experience.
Experience with ERP implementation, support, leadership, and management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems and ERP system architecture.
Strong knowledge of human resources and finance business processes.
Knowledge of enterprise systems management, data integration, business process management, and the software development life cycle.
Ability to lead projects and service delivery with limited direction in a highly complex environment.
Ability to lead and manage mid-size to large teams, allocate resources, establish priorities, and manage multiple projects.
Strong leadership, mentoring, interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.
Ability to interact effectively with staff, business users, vendors, and leadership at all organizational levels.
Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and operate effectively in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to establish and manage team budgets and apply basic accounting and finance principles.
Strong understanding of change management and business transformation.
Proficiency with ERP applications, Microsoft products, budgeting tools, and other software applications used to support enterprise operations.
Ability to adapt to changing business and technology needs.
