The Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Educational Outreach. The Gatton Academy is a public residential STEM program established and funded by the Kentucky legislature. It is located on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Students complete their last two years of high school in the program while earning at least 60 hours of college credit. This is a 12-month position and reports to the Director of The Gatton Academy. Gatton Academy staff and administrators are officially employees of Western Kentucky University.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Manage all aspects of the administration of The Gatton Academy''s statewide educational outreach beyond the residential program.
Develop a delivery system for online, synchronous, live courses such that students anywhere in the state may participate from their schools or homes.
Ensure all courses meet accreditation requirements such that schools will award credit for students completing the courses.
Build and maintain relationships with key representatives within the Kentucky Department of Education, school district personnel statewide, and key WKU personnel.
Market educational outreach opportunities statewide.
Establish and maintain a system for appropriately maintaining student records, documenting students'' participation in and completion of courses.
Establish and maintain clear communication channels with students, their families, and school personnel.
Manage division budget.
Implement, monitor, and assess functions of the division, including tracking annual performance indicators for division.
Envision new programs, opportunities for growth, and refinement of services for division.
Manage all aspects of the curriculum offered by The Gatton Academy through the educational outreach program.
Oversee the curriculum development of courses designed specifically for advanced learners.
Ensure students are provided with appropriate differentiation and support while taking courses.
Supervise and support teachers who provide instruction within the educational outreach program.
Recruit teachers to teach within the program.
Ensure teachers meet state requirements to teach accredited courses.
Provide training in effective instruction of advanced and gifted and talented learners.
Develop a system to evaluate, provide feedback, and support teachers within the program.
Provide direct support to students as a staff mentor/College Letter Writer, on study abroad programs, and as part of the Gatton leadership team.

Salary Range: $60,000 to $68,000
