Position Overview

The Assistant Director of Campus Administration assists in the coordination and day-to-day operational oversight of campus support functions. This position oversees the custodial operations, management of events, mail center and duplicating services, campus vehicles, and general facilities support. The Assistant Director also acts as the incident's commander in the absence of the director, supervises staff, plans and coordinates multi-shift operations, monitors service quality, regulatory compliance, and supports the operations of facilities and buildings that may span a large geographic area while maintaining a high standard of customer service across the campus. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.

What you will be doing

  • Oversees daily campus operations and service delivery, ensuring operational readiness and continuity for custodial services, warehouse functions, mail services, duplicating/printing, and event infrastructure
  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees campus events and special activities, including logistical planning, space configuration, equipment deployment, staffing coordination, and on‑site operational support
  • Supervises and manages assigned personnel, including training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and corrective action for full‑time, part‑time, and contracted staff across service areas
  • Oversees multi‑shift operations and workforce coverage, ensuring adequate staffing levels and timely response to service requests, operational issues, and unplanned needs
  • Coordinates facilities and maintenance support activities, serving as liaison with District Facilities Management to monitor work orders, service completion, and operational readiness
  • Manages fiscal and administrative resources, including budget support, expenditure monitoring, procurement coordination, and oversight of vendor and service contract compliance
  • Oversees warehouse, inventory, and materials management, ensuring accurate tracking, safe storage, and timely distribution of supplies and equipment
  • Ensures regulatory compliance and institutional policy adherence, including OSHA standards, safety practices, and custodial procedures
  • Acts as campus supervisor in the absence of the Director
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in facilities management, business administration, public administration, higher education administration, or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience in campus services, facilities operations, events operations, or a related support services field; or Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field and six (6) years of related management experience and/or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of College organization, policies, procedures, and administrative systems
  • Knowledge of custodial operations, duplicating/printing processes, mailroom procedures, warehouse operations, and event logistics
  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe handling of custodial chemicals and materials
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate staff across multiple service areas and shifts
  • Ability to analyze operational needs, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions
  • Ability to manage budgets, interpret financial data, and prepare operational reports
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and project-coordination skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and external partners
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include various shifts, weekends, and holidays; as well as, perform on-call and respond to after-hour emergencies
  • Ability to work well with students, faculty and staff

  • This function/position has been designated as essential. This means that when the College is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the College.
