Job Summary
The Assistant Directorsupports the Director in managing and coordinating nursing services to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. This leadership role assists with planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and standards of care.
Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions
- Support the Director in overseeing daily nursing operations and staff performance.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating nursing policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and facility policies.
- Participate in hiring, training, evaluating, and coaching nursing staff to maintain high standards of care and professionalism.
- Help manage staffing schedules, assignments, and coverage needs.
- Conduct clinical rounds to assess patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
- Monitor and ensure accurate documentation of care and treatment by nursing staff.
- Support infection control, quality assurance, and risk management initiatives.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support care coordination and treatment planning.
- Respond to patient or family concerns with professionalism and empathy, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Act as a liaison between nursing staff and administration.
- Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited program of nursing
- Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration
- Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration
Experience:
- Required
- Three years of experience in clinical nursing
- Preferred
- One or more year of leadership experience
Certification/Licensure:
- Required
- Licensed Vocational Nurse, with authorization to practice in the State of Texas
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date
- SAFE Approach Level III Certification
- Must obtain within six (6) months of start date
