Responsible for Directing, planning, and managing the Augusta Engineering traffic engineering projects, operations and services including TMC & ITS within the guidelines of City and departmental policies and procedures, state and federal laws, and acceptable professional engineering practices. This position works closely with other assistant directors & managers within Engineering Department, Georgia DOT personnel, design consultants, developers, surveyors, citizens, other city departments, and elected officials.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Oversees the planning, operation, and administration of all department activities as related to traffic engineering to include collection and analysis of traffic engineering data, recommending traffic improvement measures and submitting traffic engineering reports.
- Oversees the planning, design, operation, and administration of all activities as related to traffic engineering, Traffic Management Center (TMC), and associated Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
- Oversees overall traffic safety and operational needs for the government including traffic signal operations, signing and markings, roadway lighting, and construction & maintenance of infrastructure.
- Coordinates activities to be consistent with the goals and objectives of the assignment ensuring that all activities successfully comply with established regulations and restrictions including departmental recommendations, programs, and policies.
- Collaborates with the Director in the preparation of the budget, strategic planning, and studies.
- Performs personnel administration for the division and represents management at public relations events.
- Develops and implements new programs, special projects, new policies, and procedures as directed by the Director.
- Responsible for the Department in the absence of the Director.
