Assistant Cross Country Coach - High School
Position Summary
The Assistant Cross Country Coach supports the Head Cross Country Coach in developing and managing the high school cross country program. The Assistant Coach helps provide instruction, training, supervision, and motivation to student-athletes while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and athlete safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices, meets, and team activities.
- Provide instruction on proper running techniques, conditioning, training, and race strategies.
- Supervise and support student-athletes during practices, meets, and team activities.
- Assist with developing training plans and preparing athletes for competition.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility.
- Monitor student-athlete safety and follow appropriate injury prevention and emergency procedures.
- Assist with meet preparation, equipment, uniforms, transportation, and other program needs.
- Maintain positive and professional communication with student-athletes, parents/guardians, coaches, and school staff.
- Follow all district, school, athletic department, and NMAA policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cross Country Coach or Athletic Director.
Qualifications
- Previous cross country, track, running, or coaching experience preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with high school students.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Must be dependable and available for practices, meets, and other scheduled activities, including evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
