If you're ready to embrace challenges, strive for excellence, and make a meaningful impact, IPS is the place for you.\n \nSUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY: \n \nThe Assistant Cross Country Coach is responsible for assisting the head Cross Country coach with all coaching related activities, developing and sustaining a successful program with a strong emphasis in skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, developing character with a high degree of discipline.\n \nAdditionally, the Assistant coach is responsible for monitoring the academic progress of their student-athletes, engagement in community service activities, promoting the program throughout the community and through social media, and the overall program management during the calendar year. The Assistant Cross-Country Coach will be expected to help develop relationships with IPS feeder schools to enhance skill development and provide guidance at the younger levels with a strong emphasis on increasing athletic participation throughout the IPS pipeline.\n \nIt is imperative that the successful candidate demonstrates a strong work ethic, organizational skills and the ability to produce results. The Assistant Coach will report to the Head Coach and performance will be evaluated by the Head Coach and Athletic Director based upon this job description.\n \nWHAT YOU'LL DO: \n\n Follow and maintain knowledge of all IPS and IHSAA rules regulation and guidelines governing the sport of Cross Country.\n Instructs and demonstrates skill sets and technique necessary for individual and team development.\n Assists the head coach with planning, organizing, advertising, and conducting tryouts for the sport.\n Assists the head coach with developing training programs and practice schedules.\n Assists the head coach with putting student athletes in position to be successful and contributes to the team success.\n \nWHAT YOU'LL BRING: SKILLS AND MINDSETS:\n\n Work experience as a player and/or coach: 4 years minimum experience required and evidence of playing and coaching experience in gymnastics or cheerleading.\n Experience and knowledge of event coordination including transportation, facilities, budgeting, and outreach\n Demonstration of respect for students and making their success a top priority within a supportive, caring and stimulating environment.\n An open, transparent, and communicative leadership style that will enable him or her to relate well to a wide spectrum of constituencies including parents, students and staff.\n Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to communicate with a diverse\n Ability to recruit, retain, train and motivate scholars and assistant coaches.\n Capacity to develop long term plans for the program, equipment and facilities.\n Assign high importance to teamwork, communication and the building of relationships with all members of the school community.\n \nEDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:\n\n Prior Cross Country or distance running coaching experience preferred, assistant high school coaching experience preferred.\n Candidate must be familiar with Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and National Federal of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules concerning the sport of Soccer.\n IHSAA and NFHS Coaching Certification preferred (this can be completed after the hire).\n First Aid and CPR certified as well as knowledge and understanding of the concussion protocol.\n Ability to motivate, teach and recruit qualified student-athletes.\n Ability to foster positive human relationships and to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the community.\n* The assistant coach must exhibit high standards of professional ethics and conduct.\n \nFLSA CLASSIFICATION: \n \nExempt \n \nELIGIBILITY FOR REMOTE WORK: \n \nNot eligible \n \nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: \n \nThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
