They are seeking a hands-on Director of Accounting to lead the accounting function, oversee a team of five, and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting and improving accounting processes.

Job Details

Responsibilities
Lead and manage the day-to-day accounting operations for the organization.
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of approximately five accounting professionals.
Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Review general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements.
Maintain the integrity of the company's accounting records and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
Prepare and analyze financial statements and provide meaningful insights to ownership and senior leadership.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and other core accounting functions.
Establish and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and increase the efficiency of the accounting department.
Partner with ownership and operational leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial analysis.
Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and relationships with external accounting and financial professionals.
Ensure appropriate controls and procedures are in place to safeguard company assets.
Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and provide hands-on support to the accounting team when needed.
Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and other initiatives as the business evolves.
Serve as a trusted financial resource to ownership and senior leadership.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management or supervisory experience.
Prior experience managing and developing an accounting team.
Strong understanding of the full accounting cycle and financial reporting.
Hands-on experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while remaining highly collaborative with ownership and operational leadership.
Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and work alongside the accounting team.
Experience in a privately held, family-owned, or closely held business is a plus.
