Compensation: $120,000–$140,000 + Annual Bonus

This highly visible position serves as the Controller's primary business partner, helping oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and strategic initiatives while supporting the company's continued expansion.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Controller to oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while meeting reporting deadlines
- Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Review work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, job costing, overbillings, underbillings, and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Coordinate annual financial statement audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors
- Analyze financial performance, investigate variances, and provide recommendations to leadership
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Billing, Collections, and Operations to improve workflows and strengthen internal controls
- Identify opportunities for automation, process improvements, and operational efficiencies
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, acquisitions, and other strategic finance initiatives
- Mentor and support members of the accounting team while preparing to assume expanded leadership responsibilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong background in construction accounting is required
- Previous experience leading, mentoring, supervising, or managing accounting professionals, even without direct reports today
- Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Knowledge of work-in-progress reporting, job costing, overbillings, underbillings, and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Experience supporting annual external audits
- Familiarity with construction ERP systems
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting controls, and financial reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work independently while building strong partnerships across departments
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
