About the Opportunity - Assistant Controller

Our client, a well-established professional services organization serving high-net-worth individuals and the entertainment industry, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its growing finance team. This newly created position offers the opportunity to influence finance modernization efforts, work directly with executive leadership, and build a clear path toward future Controller-level responsibilities. Key Responsibilities - Assistant Controller

• Assist with overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting activities
• 
  
• Supervise and mentor an Accounting Clerk while supporting team development
• 
  
• Partner with finance leadership to evaluate, redesign, and improve accounting processes
• 
  
• Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend scalable solutions
• 
  
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• 
  
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules
• 
  
• Develop and enhance reporting through advanced Excel modeling and analysis
• 
  
• Maintain compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• 
  
• Support financial audits and special projects as needed
• 
  
• Collaborate closely with executive leadership on strategic finance initiatives
• 
  
• Help drive modernization and continuous improvement efforts across the finance function
• 
  

Qualifications - Assistant Controller

• 
  
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• 
  
• CPA strongly preferred
• 
  
• 4-7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• 
  
• Big 4 public accounting experience highly preferred
• 
  
• Public accounting background with relevant industry exposure will be considered
• 
  
• Advanced Excel skills required
• 
  
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and month-end close processes
• 
  
• Experience evaluating and improving accounting workflows and business processes
• 
  
• Background within financial services, entertainment, family office, high-net-worth, or client-service accounting environments preferred
• 
  
• Demonstrated ability to work independently after initial training and onboarding
• 
  
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
• 
  
• Excellent communication skills with a strategic and growth-oriented mindset
• 
  
• Previous supervisory experience preferred but not required
