Position Summary

Reporting to the Head Coach, Track and Field, the Assistant Coach will assist with coaching, teaching, instructing, planning, and recruiting for the women's and men's cross country and track programs. This position requires frequent travel, as well as evening and weekend hours.

Essential Functions

Assists the Head Coach in all aspects of practice and meet coaching.

Provides skill instruction for student-athletes, including individual skill sessions, small groups, and total team training.

Provides student-athlete mentorship and life skill development.

Coordinates, identifies, evaluates, and recruits quality student-athletes in compliance with University, Atlantic 10, and NCAA regulations and policies.

Develops contacts and relationships with pertinent cross country/track and field clubs and organizations, as well as high school coaches/programs. Maintains an efficient and effective tracking and evaluation system.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Complies with all NCAA, Atlantic 10, and University rules and regulations.

Additional Functions

Attends fundraising and community service events upon request to support the program.

Operates University-owned or leased vehicles to transport students, staff, and/or equipment in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and insurance requirements.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree.

Minimum of 1 year of experience as a coach or student-athlete or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

High-level organizational skills.

Demonstrated commitment and motivation to building a successful program. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Understanding and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs, and proficiency with social media tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Coaching experience in an NCAA program.

Valid Driver's License.

Minimum Starting Salary $66,600 Maximum Starting Salary $66,600 Note Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills. Is this a Union position? No
