Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION:The Assistant Coach supports in all coaching duties including scheduling, recruiting, travel arrangements, and statistics.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Assists with scheduling games and/or practice games, including travel arrangements.2. Assists coaches during practice and games on the field, such as coaching on techniques. 3. Sets-up for home games, including visiting and locker room set-up and team equipment set-up. 4. Performs outreach to athletes in the athletic housing apartments and/or secures apartments on their behalf.5. Follows up and reports on academic grades and arranges tutoring for players. 6. Assists with recruiting players from local public and private high schools.7. Maintains statistics for practice and games.8. Creates scouting reports.9. Attends coach's meetings and conferences.10. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.2. One year of experience in designated sport at the high school or college level.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Associates degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:1. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 2. Ability to follow directions of immediate supervisor. 3. Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff. 4. Demonstrates strong knowledge of designated athletic sport.5. Ability to coach players to improve skills and game performance.6. Committed to working in a multicultural environment.7. Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.WORK ENVIRONMENT and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: 1. Works in an outside environment under various weather conditions.2. Works flexible hours including evenings and weekends. 3. Requires some evening and weekends, and travel around the state and possibly overnight.4. Requires walking, standing for long periods, running, bending, and lifting, up to 50 lbs. of equipment.

Conditions of Employment

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020.
