Since 1984, Sierra Tucson has been a nationally recognized leader in residential treatment, providing compassionate, evidence-based care for adults struggling with substance use disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and co-occurring mental health conditions. Situated on a serene 160-acre campus in Tucson, Arizona, our 183-bed facility is dedicated to helping patients heal, recover, and reclaim their lives.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Clinical Director to join our leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for a licensed behavioral health professional who is committed to clinical excellence, staff development, and delivering exceptional patient care.

Position Summary

The Assistant Clinical Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating clinical services across assigned programs and departments. This leadership role provides oversight of clinical operations, staff supervision, regulatory compliance, performance improvement initiatives, and collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment teams to ensure quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Operations

• Provide oversight and support for daily clinical operations within assigned service areas.
• Monitor clinical services to ensure quality treatment delivery, patient access, and continuity of care.
• Review and analyze clinical and operational performance metrics and develop improvement strategies when needed.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of evidence-based behavioral health practices across programs.
• Participate in organizational planning, reporting, and program development initiatives.

Staff Leadership & Development

• Recruit, onboard, train, supervise, and develop clinical staff.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and mentorship to team members.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
• Promote effective communication and teamwork across departments.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure adherence to accreditation standards, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
• Support quality improvement efforts and regulatory readiness activities.
• Maintain compliance with applicable state and federal behavioral health regulations.

Community & Organizational Engagement

• Represent Sierra Tucson in community meetings and professional partnerships.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and other stakeholders to support integrated patient care.
• Promote a positive, empathetic, and patient-centered treatment environment.
• Address patient concerns promptly and professionally, always prioritizing patient safety and satisfaction.

Qualifications

Required Education

• Master's Degree in: Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field

Required Experience

• Five (5) or more years of behavioral health clinical experience working with diverse populations, including: Serious Mental Illness (SMI), Seriously Emotionally Disturbed (SED), Developmental Disabilities (DD), Substance Use Disorders (SUD)
• Three (3) or more years of clinical supervision experience.
• Management, administrative leadership, and/or Utilization Management experience required.

Licensure & Certifications Required

• Active, unrestricted professional license as one of the following:
• • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Independent Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

Additional Requirements

• Must meet credentialing requirements for professional behavioral health practice.
• CPR certification required (training available upon hire).
• Crisis intervention/de-escalation and restraint certification required (training provided).
• First Aid certification may be required based on facility and state requirements.
