The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is looking for a Civil Engineer or Assistant Civil Engineer to join our Safety Engineering Division in the beautiful Boise, Idaho area.

This is an opportunity to put your engineering skills to work on projects you can see and experience every day. From roadway design to stormwater and irrigation solutions, your work will directly support a safe, efficient, and growing transportation system.

This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $79,872-$106,080 annually, DOQ.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform professional engineering work involving roadway civil design and urban hydrology/hydraulics, with an emphasis on stormwater and irrigation.
  • Develop CAD designs, project specifications, cost estimates, and engineering solutions for District projects.
  • Investigate and prioritize drainage and irrigation challenges affecting District roadways and develop practical, effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with a variety of internal teams, agencies, contractors, and members of the public.
  • Provide knowledgeable, professional responses to public comments, concerns, complaints, and referrals.

What You Bring

We're looking for an engineer who combines strong technical skills with practical problem-solving and enjoys developing solutions that make a visible impact on the community.

  • Strong knowledge of roadway civil engineering, hydraulics, and urban drainage system design, including gravity irrigation systems and their operation.
  • Experience with CAD design (AutoCAD preferred) and engineering software used to develop and evaluate design solutions.
  • Ability to analyze engineering challenges, develop practical solutions, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A valid Idaho driver's license is required.

Civil Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Current Idaho Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Assistant Civil Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and professional-level engineering experience.
  • Current EIT/EI certification, with the ability to obtain an Idaho PE license within two years of hire.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may also be considered.
