Assistant Cheer Coach - High School
Position Summary
The Assistant Cheer Coach supports the Head Cheer Coach in developing and supervising the high school cheerleading program. The Assistant Coach helps provide instruction, promotes teamwork and sportsmanship, and ensures the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices, performances, and competitions.
- Teach and reinforce proper cheerleading techniques, skills, routines, and safety procedures.
- Supervise and support student-athletes during practices, games, competitions, and other team activities.
- Assist with choreography, conditioning, and preparation for athletic events.
- Promote positive behavior, teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility.
- Assist with equipment, uniforms, travel, and other program-related needs.
- Follow all district, school, athletic department, and NMAA policies and procedures.
- Maintain appropriate communication with students, parents/guardians, coaches, and school staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cheer Coach or Athletic Director.
Qualifications
- Previous cheerleading or coaching experience preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with high school students.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Must be dependable and available for practices, games, competitions, and other scheduled activities, including evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
