Assistant Buyer Position Overview
Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking a dedicated Assistant Buyer to join their client's team in Durham, North Carolina. This role is integral in supporting a team of Buyers to achieve desired service, inventory, and profitability levels. The Assistant Buyer will work closely with vendors and manage various purchasing tasks to ensure seamless operations within the purchasing department.
Responsibilities
Summary Description: Responsible for assisting a team of Buyers to meet required service, inventory, and profitability levels.
Essential Functions:
- Confirm previous day's purchase orders were sent and complete.
- Call vendors on late/partial purchase orders and missing documentation.
- Identify back-ordered products.
- Enter deals into the system.
- Act as coverage for File Maintenance.
- Request return authorizations and call tags.
- Manage adverse events and product complaints.
- Manage RX drop shipment orders.
- Act as back-up coverage for Front Desk Associate as needed.
Specific Work Tasks:
- Work daily purchase order confirmation reports.
- Communicate with vendors on discontinued and new items.
- Work with vendor customer service on requests for return of slow-moving or discontinued products.
- Maintain item and purchase order accuracy.
- Assist with Schedule II order and return process.
- Maintain notes on items in purchasing software (P4).
- Work with buyer(s) on request for special order items.
- Maintain website product images.
- Cover front desk duties as needed (including welcoming guests, directing visitors, sorting mail, etc.).
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- 1-2 years Product knowledge.
- 1-2 years Purchasing systems knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer service skills.
- Able to understand and keep schedules.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to work well within a team.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
- Preferred 1-2 years of relevant buying experience.
- Pharmaceutical knowledge is a plus.
Required Work Hours
Monday to Friday, 1st shift.
