Purpose: The Assistant Buyer - Destination, Souvenirs, & Hardgoods provides key operational and analytical support to the Senior Buyer in the development and execution of the Destination Souvenir Hardgoods strategy. This role supports merchandise selection, product development, vendor and factory coordination, item setup, purchasing, and issue resolution to ensure assortments are delivered accurately and on time.
The Assistant Buyer will also analyze sales, margin, inventory, and product performance to identify opportunities and support informed buying decisions. This individual will work closely with vendors, factories, Planning, Supply Chain, and Operations to help execute merchandise strategies that drive sales, profitability, and locally relevant assortments across the business.
Essential Functions:
Reporting Relationship: The Assistant Buyer reports to the Senior Buyer
Major Interdependencies: Global Category team, Supply Chain, Master Data, Revenue Generation, Planning, Space Planning, Marketing, and Operations
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
o BA/BS or equivalent work experience
o Training that leads to an in-depth understanding of the buying function
o Knowledge of financial tools and concept profitability; understanding and use of market research and market trend information.
o Strong vendor relations: Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships.
o Ability to communicate effectively with people at all job levels, internally and externally.
o Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; Excellent written communication and interpersonal communication skills.
