Assistant Buyer - Beauty (pOpshelf)

Partner and assist the Buyer in the selection, flow and merchandising of products that will provide Dollar General's customers with a better life, and our shareholders with a superior investment. Facilitate the internal and external partnerships that allow Dollar General to serve others by being a customer driven distributor of consumable basics.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinates the flow of merchandise through daily communication with vendors and distribution, transportation and reorder departments. (45%)
• Evaluate and report on the performance of products. (10%)
• Assists in sales planning and forecasting. (10%)
• Assists buyer in selecting merchandise that will create value and excitement for customers and impact company success. (10%)
• Assists buyer in merchandising products through plan-o-gramming and in-store communications. (10%)
• Develops in-depth market knowledge by visiting competition, trade shows and manufacturing facilities. (10%)
• Maintain positive relationships with teamshare partners by visiting stores bi-monthly. (5%)

Job Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
• Ability to analyze and interpret budget, sales, market and consumer data
• Ability to learn negotiation dynamics and interpersonal skills
• Ability to understand market and customer needs to build assortments
• Ability to make decisions in a rapidly changing environment
• Ability to create a team environment and facilitate decision making

Education/Experience

• 3 to 5 years merchandising and/or retail experience.
• College degree and buying experience preferred.
