Key Responsibilities
- Billing & Coding: Support billing functions using ICD-9, HCPCS, CMS-1500, and UB-04 forms; assist with AHCCCS, Medicare, commercial insurance, and private pay billing
- Accounts Payable & Collections: Process payments, make bank deposits, and follow up on outstanding balances; coordinate with consultants and management on compliance issues
- Resident Account Management: Receive and record resident account deposits and payments; prepare resident trust fund accounts for closing and interest allocation
- Financial Reporting: Assist with end-of-month procedures such as charge journals, cash receipts, bank reconciliations, and check register maintenance
- Office Support: Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment; protect resident property and privacy; follow Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, and emergency procedures
- Compliance & Policy: Ensure adherence to residents’ rights, facility policies, and compliance programs; report potential non-compliance issues to management
- Emergency Preparedness: Assist in resident evacuation during emergencies
- Training & Development: Attend in-service education programs to meet facility requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a business office management role within a long-term care or healthcare setting.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and accurate in work performance
- Strong knowledge of AHCCCS claims submission, Medicare/Medicare Advantage billing, and accounts payable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email; familiarity with medical terminology preferred
- Strong communication skills, self-discipline, and patience
- Ability to work independently and follow complex policies/procedures
- Must be able to meet physical demands of the role and comply with facility health requirements
