    Description

    Collins Community Credit Union, a growing organization is currently recruiting for an Assistant Branch Manager at our Marion Branch. This person will be a competitive, independent, "doer" who can problem solve and get things done through people. In this role, you will support the Branch Manager in driving performance, culture, and operational excellence. This role is responsible for assisting in coaching, developing, and reinforcing consistent behaviors across all frontline roles.

    The Assistant Branch Manager serves as the primary back-up for all frontline positions and is fully capable of performing daily teller, service, and lending functions. This ensures seamless branch coverage, continuous member service, and consistent execution of standards.

    Essential Functions:

    • Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values, and long-term objectives. Performs duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards, and our work procedures.

    Coaching, Development & Frontline Leadership (Primary Focus)

    • Provide consistent, real-time coaching to all frontline employees to improve service quality, member satisfaction, sales effectiveness, and referral behaviors.
    • Assist in conducting structured one-on-one coaching sessions and participate in regular performance discussions to drive accountability and development.
    • Reinforce expected behaviors, including needs-based conversations, product knowledge, and member relationship building.
    • Partner with the Branch Manager to identify talent gaps, develop employees, and build a strong succession pipeline.
    • Support onboarding and training of new hires and ensure alignment to branch standards from day one.
    • Model best-in-class member interactions and demonstrate how to convert service conversations into relationship opportunities.

    Back-Up Leadership & Full Frontline Coverage

    • Serve as the primary back-up for all frontline Retail roles
    • Perform all duties associated with these roles, including transaction processing, account opening, lending support, and member service.
    • Ensure continuity of service and operational consistency during absences, peak volume, or staffing gaps.
    • Assist in balancing workload and maintaining service levels across the branch.
    • Provide hands-on support to resolve member issues and model best practices for the team.

    Daily Branch Operations & Execution Support

    • Support the Branch Manager in executing daily operational priorities, audits, and branch goals.
    • Assist with staffing coordination, scheduling, and coverage planning to optimize performance and efficiency.
    • Review and approve transactions, account activity, and exceptions within assigned authority.
    • Ensure procedures are followed and escalate risk, compliance, or operational issues as needed.
    • Maintain a safe, secure, and compliant branch environment.

    Member Experience & Relationship Reinforcement

    • Deliver and model exceptional, member-first service across all channels.
    • Ensure the team consistently executes consultative conversations focused on member needs and outcomes.
    • Handle escalated member concerns with professionalism and resolution focus.
    • Ensure every member interaction supports long-term engagement and growth.

    Sales, Growth & Performance Support

    • Support achievement of branch goals for deposits, loans, referrals, and membership growth.
    • Monitor daily team activity and reinforce expectations tied to branch KPIs.
    • Coach frontline staff on identifying opportunities and converting conversations into measurable outcomes.
    • Assist in driving consistent execution of sales behaviors across all roles.
    • Partner with the Branch Manager to ensure alignment between daily activity and strategic objectives.

    Operational Controls, Compliance & Risk

    • Ensure adherence to all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Review account openings, transactions, and lending activity for accuracy and compliance.
    • Maintain strong controls and assist in audit readiness and fraud prevention.
    • Uphold confidentiality and safeguarding of member data at all times.
    • Model high standards of accuracy and risk awareness in all work.

    Culture, Engagement & Team Support

    • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing branch culture.
    • Assist in leading team huddles, meetings, and communication of priorities.
    • Recognize strong performance and reinforce desired behaviors.
    • Support Branch Manager initiatives related to engagement, training, and retention.
    • Promote alignment across all roles and encourage teamwork.

    Community Engagement & Brand Representation

    • Participate in community events and represent the credit union professionally.
    • Support branch outreach, business development, and relationship-building efforts.
    • Encourage team participation in community involvement activities.
    • Reinforce the credit union’s mission and values in the marketplace

    Working Conditions:

    • Requires frequent walking, sitting, and standing for long periods of time
    • Regularly uses computer and standard office equipment (copier, printer, calculator, and other office technology) to perform daily job duties.
    • Requires the ability to clearly exchange accurate, concise, and timely information in person, by phone, and through electronic communications.
    • Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs.

    Job Qualifications:

    Experience

    • 1–3 years of experience in consumer lending, retail banking, or a sales-focused environment.
    • Experience with loan origination, deposit account opening, or membership development strongly preferred.
    • Must be able obtain and maintain active NMLS registration.
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, coach and inspire others
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment
    • Must be bondable in accordance with the State of Iowa and CCCU guidelines
