    JOB TITLE: Athletic Trainer, Assistant

    HOUR STATUS: Exempt

    REPORTS TO: Head Athletic Trainer

    PAY GRADE: AP2/215 Days

    DEPT./SCHOOL: Copperas Cove High School

    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    Under the supervision of the head athletic trainer, provide assistance for the girls' athletic program. Develop and direct the student athletic trainers.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification:

    Bachelor's degree

    Valid athletic trainer's license

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    Effective organizational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills

    Knowledge of University interscholastic League (UIL) rules

    Experience:

    Experience in sport injuries preferred

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    Secure physicals, medical history, acknowledgment of rules, parent consent/student info and drug testing forms for the girls' athletic programs.

    Keep the head athletic trainer and assistant athletic director/girls' coordinator informed about any major injuries and the status of the athlete.

    Work with and develop the proper relationship with team physicians, coaches, athletes, and the family of injured athletes.

    Inform parents of injuries of athletes assigned.

    Develop and direct student athletic trainers.

    Document all injuries, rehabilitations, treatment, and progress reports of athletes assigned.

    Assist with other duties as assigned.

    Ability to communicate (oral and written), instruct, and maintain emotional control under stress.

    Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

    Possible irregular hours; exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather.
