Louisiana Christian University seeks a qualified candidate to serve as an Assistant Professor of Music. This is a full-time 9-month tenure-track teaching position to begin August 1, 2026. The position is open until filled.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teach applied voice to music majors, music minors, and elective students. This may include preparing students for recital hours, studio seminars, and junior/senior recitals.
- Teach courses related to voice or at least one other area (such as theory, music appreciation, or musical theatre) based on the candidate's expertise and curriculum needs.
- Coordinate with other faculty to support and/or produce performance events, such as the annual Alsup Voice Competition and Christmas on the Hill.
- Develop opportunities for outreach and engagement with area music teachers and/or high school students.
- Teach a course load of twelve (12) or equivalent credits per semester.
- Maintain office hours and availability to students and colleagues.
- Serve on institutional committees as assigned and fulfill other appropriate institutional and professional duties.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree required; earned or pursuing a doctorate or terminal degree desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to teach applied voice, including art song, aria, and contemporary traditions.
- Ability to guide students in bel canto as well as other techniques, such as musical theatre and contemporary church music.
- Demonstratable knowledge in vocal diction, technique, and pedagogy.
- Piano skills sufficient to teach lessons without a regular accompanist.
- Capacity to teach in at least one musical area not specific to voice (e.g., theory, music appreciation, basic keyboard skills).
- Ability to utilize online instructional tools (LMS, integrated textbook tools, etc.).
- Ability to teach general education music appreciation
