Summary:
The Department of Mechanical & Civil Engineering and Construction Management at Alabama A&M University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track in the Mechanical Engineering Program at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Rank and tenure status will be determined based on the successful candidates qualifications and experience.
We seek a dynamic and highly qualified scholar-educator with expertise in nuclear engineering, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), gas turbine systems, propulsion systems, and thermal-fluid sciences. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including Introduction to Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Reactor Engineering I and II, Gas Turbine Systems, Propulsion Systems, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and related thermal-science courses.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering, including but not limited to:
Introduction to Nuclear Engineering
Nuclear Reactor Engineering I and II
Gas Turbine Systems
Propulsion Systems
Computational Fluid Dynamics
Thermal Sciences and related courses
Develop, modernize, and enhance Mechanical Engineering courses and laboratories.
Establish and sustain an active research program that produces peer-reviewed papers and attracts external funding.
Supervise senior design projects, undergraduate research, and graduate projects and theses.
Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Participate in curriculum development, student learning assessment, and accreditation activities.
Contribute to department, college, university, and professional service.
