Responsibilities
Florida State University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position in Interior Design program at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
We seek a collaborative educator and scholar who will contribute to undergraduate and graduate education through innovative teaching, research and/or creative scholarship, and student mentorship. The successful candidate will advance human-centered design, evidence-based inquiry, and creative and critical thinking while preparing students to address complex challenges in the built environment.
Candidates should demonstrate expertise that complements and expands the program's strengths and the ability to connect design inquiries with professional practice. We welcome contributions to interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship, graduate education, and the thoughtful integration of emerging technologies into design.
Qualifications
Candidates for appointment at the Assistant Professor rank should demonstrate promise in teaching, research and/or creative scholarship, and service.
Candidates for appointment at the Associate Professor rank should demonstrate a sustained record of teaching effectiveness, research and/or creative achievement, and service commensurate with appointment at that rank at Florida State University.

The Interior Design Program in the School of Design at Florida State University emphasizes human-centered design, evidence-based design processes, and creative and critical thinking. The program prepares students to contribute to human health, safety, and well-being through the environments and experiences they design.
Situated within the College of Fine Arts, the program offers opportunities to connect design education with broader artistic, scholarly, and interdisciplinary inquiry. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued development of undergraduate and graduate education and help strengthen the program's research and creative contributions.

Considerations
This is a Faculty position.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
This position is being advertised as open until filled and will begin Fall 2027.
