POSITION SUMMARY

The Department of Business Administration at Alma College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Business Analytics and Sports Management beginning August 2027. The standard teaching load is six units throughout the academic year.

Teaching experience and/or professional experience in sports management, general business, and business analytics (Excel, descriptive statistics, and visual tools such as Power BI) are required. The department desires an experienced faculty colleague with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and significant analytics capability. The successful candidate will be able to teach sports management courses and business analytics courses at various levels and have excellent attention to detail. Class sizes at Alma College are small, and experiential learning is utilized.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A Ph.D. or a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in a related business field is required. An all-but-dissertation (ABD) with the degree completed before the start date will be considered for the position
• Experience teaching advanced Excel, descriptive statistics, MS Power BI, or similar applications
• Evidence of (or strong potential for) excellence in undergraduate teaching.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in the sports management industry
• Experience with Canvas or other LMS
• An ability to teach other business courses as required.
• Hands-on proficiency with modern AI/ML tools and methods relevant to business, such as R, Python, and LLMs, is a plus.
