he Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will join the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering in Indianapolis, Indiana. This position represents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the expansion of Purdue Engineering in Indianapolis at the heart of Indiana's life sciences ecosystem, where engineering, medicine, and translational research converge.
Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another closely related discipline, by the employment date. Candidates should have expertise in one or more areas related to musculoskeletal health, biomechanics, tissue engineering, neural engineering, neurotechnology, imaging, sports engineering and human performance engineering. Early-career applicants should show evidence of initiating independent research, while mid-career applicants should demonstrate a sustained record of independent research within academic or industrial organizations, and contributions to education and/or mentoring. Individuals working at the interface of engineering and medicine - particularly those who can bridge disciplines and approaches (e.g. computational modeling, imaging, and experimental or clinical applications) - are especially encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate is expected to develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, teach courses at both levels, and contribute to service at the School, College, and University levels. Collaboration with clinical partners at the Indiana University School of Medicine and industry partners in the One Health Innovation District is highly encouraged and supported.
