    Description:

    The College of Education at the University of Houston-Clear Lake invites applications for a 9-month, full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. The successful candidate will meet requirements to serve as a Core Faculty member as outlined in the 2024 CACREP Standards in our CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program. Responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in the CMHC program, collaborating with program faculty and community stakeholders to revise and refine program curriculum as needed, building and sustaining partnerships with community mental health agencies and schools, providing supervision and clinical oversight for students in internships, contributing to program governance and accreditation efforts, sustaining robust research and dissemination activities, and engaging in service to the school, college, university, community, and the profession.

    Duties:

    • Provide teaching and supervision across the clinical mental health curriculum, supporting program and student needs.
    • Contribute actively to curriculum design and program enhancement, ensuring alignment with a broad representation of current research, professional standards, accreditation requirements, and emerging trends in counselor education and practice.
    • Conduct and publish high-quality research in reputable academic journals and present findings at conferences, contributing to the field''s knowledge base.
    • Engage in service activities within the program, department, college, university, professional organizations, and leadership opportunities over time.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program.
    • Currently licensed as an LPC or LPC-S, or eligible to obtain Texas LPC licensure.
    • Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduate-level instruction; written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching and research activities; ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.
    • Evidence or, or potential to develop, a sustained scholarly agenda resulting in peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and external funding.

    Preferred:

    • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program.
    • Interest in interdisciplinary collaborations, research, and academic innovation across the college''s academic departments and university.
    • Experience teaching and supervising graduate counseling students in a CACREP-accredited program.
