Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking a highly skilled
Mechanical Assembly Engineering Technician in San Jose, CA. The Technician must be
able to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and test procedures to assemble complex mechanical and structural sub-systems. In this role, you will install and align major components (such as flight control linkages, actuators, and landing gear), perform functional checks, and troubleshoot assembly issues directly on the shop floor. You will work closely with manufacturing engineers, design teams, and quality inspectors to optimize build efficiency while maintaining strict adherence to aerospace and automotive safety standards.
What You'll Do- Assembly & Installation: Assemble mechanical and structural sub-systems using engineering drawings, torque specs, and industry best practices. Install and precisely align flight control linkages, actuators, and landing gear.
- Testing & Inspection: Perform functional checks and test alignments, recording critical build data for full traceability.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Identify and resolve mechanical assembly issues on the shop floor using root-cause analysis to perform quick-turn repairs or modifications.
- Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, manufacturing engineers, and quality inspectors to improve assembly processes and ensure safety compliance.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate reporting and documentation for all testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
What You Need- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience as an engineering technician in the aerospace, aviation industry. New Product Development (NPD) experience in aerospace/aviation is required.
- Education: Associates degree or certification in engineering technology (4+ years of additional experience can substitute for the degree).
- Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and FAA guidelines. Solid grasp of fastener installation, sealants, and alignment processes.
- Safety & Standards: Deep knowledge of aircraft safety procedures, tool control, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention.
- Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong problem-solving abilities and strict attention to detail.
- Physical & Environment: Ability to lift 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and handle tasks that may expose you to hazardous materials in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus Qualifications- Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification or equivalent experience.
- Experience with electric aircraft, aircraft configuration management, and FAA conformity.
- Familiarity with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or CATIA.
- Pay $62 per hour
