SNI Companies is seeking an experienced Assembler / SMT Soldering Technician to support electronics manufacturing operations in Oldsmar, FL.
The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally skilled soldering technician with strong hands-on experience working with SMT components, PCB/CCA assembly, inspection, and rework.
A minimum of 5 years of soldering experience in an electronics manufacturing environment is required. Candidates with less than 5 years of soldering manufacturing experience will not be considered.
Perform precision soldering, SMT assembly, rework, and touch-up of electronic circuit card assemblies.
Use microscopes to verify correct component placement and orientation.
Manually align components prior to soldering.
Perform post-reflow inspection and solder touch-up.
Identify and correct solder defects, including:
Poorly wetted solder joints
Solder voids
Insufficient solder
Solder shorts/bridges
Misaligned components/leads
Tombstoned components
Billboarded components
Use Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment to identify solder defects and distinguish false calls from actual defects.
Review circuit boards using X-ray inspection to identify solder defects on bottom-terminated components.
Use solder rework equipment including hot air pencils, hot plates, and BGA removal/rework equipment.
Read work instructions, engineering documentation, and identify standard SMT components.
Perform jumper wire installation and tacking on redesign boards when required.
Maintain high-quality workmanship while meeting production requirements.
Work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where overtime may occasionally be required.
5+ years of soldering experience in electronics manufacturing – REQUIRED
Strong hands-on SMT / surface-mount component experience.
PCB/CCA soldering and rework experience.
Experience using microscopes for detailed PCB inspection.
Experience with AOI inspection equipment.
Experience with X-ray inspection of electronic assemblies.
Experience using hot air pencils, hot plates, and BGA rework/removal equipment.
IPC-A-610 certification – active or expired REQUIRED.
IPC J-STD-001 certification – active or expired REQUIRED.
Ability to read work instructions and identify standard electronic components.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ERSA or similar BGA rework equipment.
Experience soldering and tacking jumper wires.
Experience with complex PCB/CCA assemblies.
Aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing experience.
