Position Summary
The Machine Operator 1 is responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations by operating production machinery, performing quality inspections, maintaining equipment and tools, and ensuring products are processed accurately and efficiently. The successful candidate will follow work instructions, maintain production standards, identify quality issues, and support a safe and organized production environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate assigned production machinery according to established work instructions and procedures.
- Perform quality control inspections of machined products.
- Identify and properly separate products that do not meet established quality standards.
- Read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions, blueprints, sketches, and job specifications.
- Properly identify all parts and materials being processed.
- Select, use, and maintain appropriate tools and measuring instruments.
- Perform routine daily and preventive maintenance on machines and tools as required.
- Record maintenance activities on the Operator Maintenance Schedule (OMS).
- Complete required production paperwork and enter information into the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Accurately maintain piece counts and production records when required.
- Monitor material levels and report low stock to the supervisor.
- Maintain consistent production levels while meeting or exceeding established production standards.
- Maintain concentration and use work time efficiently.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and properly care for tools and equipment.
- Work effectively with supervisors, management, and team members.
- Work independently with minimal supervision when required.
- Adapt to process changes and learn new manufacturing processes and skills.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to maintain production flow.
Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing, machine operation, production, or industrial experience preferred.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, written instructions, and verbal directions.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn machine operation and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to properly use and maintain hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues.
- Ability to accurately complete production documentation and basic data entry.
- Ability to follow established procedures and work independently.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing processes and production requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to
35 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout a typical work shift.
- Ability to perform repetitive production tasks while maintaining quality and accuracy.
Safety Requirements
- Follow all safety requirements and procedures for the assigned work area.
- Follow company safety rules and properly use required PPE.
- Immediately report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, or equipment concerns to a supervisor.
