POSITION DESCRIPTION
Eastern Region coaches will work collaboratively with multiple districts to improve the educational outcomes of children with autism by supporting the implementation of best practices in the school environment. This proactive approach will help build capacity within local districts to positively impact student achievement. The coach works closely with
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Physical D
Work closely with district with the goal of improving outcomes for students with autism by building capacity and implementing evidence-based practices across the Early Intervention/Preschool LRE continuum
3-5 General education and special education preschool programs
Support the transition of early intervention students into part B
Support evaluation and IEP teams with ASD eligibility, LRE determinations, and other programming decisions
Provide support, guidance and professional development to district staff and administration regarding best practices, universal supports and learning resources including the appropriate use of visual, communication, academic, behavioral, and environmental accommodations or modifications
Provide guidance to identify critical learning goals to support communication, social and behavior skills.
Support designing and maintaining classroom structures that provide engaging and motivating learning activities to improve academic, communication, social and behavior management skills.
Support implementation of the essential components of an instructional program for students with ASD to include: predictability and structure, functional analysis of behaviors, development of behavior intervention plans and systematic data monitoring
Provide guidance and support to ASD center programs regarding the implementation of ACT 18 entrance and exit criteria and procedures
Provide guidance and implementation strategies for utilizing IP support
Support the development and implementation of Peer-to-Peer programs in all preschool environments
Support the implementation of PBIS, including the development and implementation of classroom management plans, FBAs and BIPs
Guidance and informational resource to parents and/or guardians regarding home support/structure
Actively participate as a member of the Wayne County ASD Support Team and Wayne Regional Autism Collaborative for Excellence (WRACE) team

Compensation:
Salary is based on the GPEA CBA, which may or may not recognize previous professional teaching experience. GPEA Members are also eligible for a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including health/dental/vision/life and long-term disability insurance. Membership in the Michigan Public Schools Employee Retirement System www.michigan.gov/ors.
