Shift: Shift 1

OPT or Pool position No Call. No weekends. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 0700 - 1630 This is for a PAT RN (Pre-Admission Testing Registered Nurse) to coordinate and manage patient preparation for surgical or medical procedures. This role blends clinical judgment with administrative coordination, ensuring patients are suitable for an ambulatory surgery center setting based on approved guidelines and parameters. Core Responsibilities Implement provider orders accurately and promptly within the scope of the role. Optimize preoperative testing (e.g., labs, imaging, ECGs) and arrange specialty clearances (cardiology, pulmonology, etc.). Communicate with anesthesia providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure patients are optimized and meet the selection criteria for an ambulatory surgery center, based set guidelines. Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers via phone, secure messaging, or telehealth platforms. Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR) and coordinate with scheduling, lab, and imaging teams. Follow ASC and system protocols for patient safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance. Provide patient education on preoperative instructions, medication management, and post-procedure care. Respond to urgent or emergent requests for testing or clearance adjustments.

Job Summary:

Provides direct and indirect nursing care by utilizing the nursing process, determining the objectives of nursing care within the framework of the physician's plan of medical care, the patient's needs, standards of nursing practice, legal regulations and ambulatory surgery center policies and procedures. He/she will perform other related duties as needed to maintain department cost containment, efficiency, as well as quality of performance.

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

A minimum of 1 year in Med/Surg, ambulatory surgery, PACU, or OR nursing is preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of a minimum of two years education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.

EDUCATION PREFERRED:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.

LICENSURE REQUIRED:

Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 30 days of hire.

LICENSURE PREFERRED:

American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
