    Description

    We are seeking an experienced AS400 Developer / Administrator to support a critical IBM AS/400 (IBM i / iSeries) environment.

    The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in legacy application development and maintenance, IBM i application administration, DB2 for i, production support, troubleshooting, integrations, and modernization/migration support.

    The underlying AS400 hardware and operating system infrastructure is externally hosted and managed. This role focuses primarily on application-level development, administration, database support, integrations, and coordination with the external hosting provider.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Maintain, modify, enhance, and troubleshoot legacy applications developed using RPG, RPG III, RPG IV, ILE RPG/RPGLE, CL, and SQL
    • Provide production-level application maintenance and support
    • Troubleshoot application defects, batch processing issues, and operational problems
    • Modify application logic to support business and regulatory changes
    • Manage IBM i application-level administration and work management
    • Manage job queues, subsystems, and application job scheduling
    • Manage IBM i user profiles, application security, and object-level authorities
    • Review system audit information including QAUDJRN
    • Coordinate with external hosting/service providers on environmental and infrastructure-related issues
    • Support application backup, disaster recovery, and restoration activities
    • Query, manage, and optimize DB2 for i databases
    • Develop and optimize SQL queries and database indexes
    • Troubleshoot database performance and application data-access issues
    • Support FTP/SFTP and automated file-transfer processes
    • Maintain integrations between IBM i and external/downstream systems
    • Extract, cleanse, archive, and prepare legacy data for migration
    • Document application flows, database schemas, dependencies, business logic, and system relationships
    • Collaborate with DBAs and cloud/modernization teams on legacy-to-cloud migration initiatives
    Required Skills & Qualifications
    • 5+ years of hands-on AS400 / IBM i / iSeries experience
    • 5+ years of IBM i application development and production support
    • Strong proficiency in:
      • RPG
      • RPG III
      • RPG IV
      • ILE RPG / RPGLE
      • CL / CLLE
      • SQL
      • DB2 for i
    • Strong experience maintaining and troubleshooting legacy IBM i applications
    • Experience working in a hosted or managed IBM i environment
    • Experience coordinating with external hosting/service providers
    • Experience with IBM i:
      • Work management
      • Job queues
      • Subsystems
      • Job scheduling
      • User profile management
      • Application security
      • Object-level authorities
      • QAUDJRN / audit logs
    • Strong DB2 for i and SQL experience, including performance and index optimization
    • Experience with FTP/SFTP and automated file transfers

    • Strong production troubleshooting and application support experience
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Legacy-to-cloud migration experience
    • Data warehousing/data extraction experience
    • Legacy data cleansing and archiving
    • Experience with Rational Developer for i (RDi)
    • Public-sector/government IT experience
    • Insurance or regulatory systems experience
    • Experience documenting legacy business logic and application dependencies
    Work Environment
    • Oklahoma City, OK
    • Hybrid work arrangement
    • Candidates should be local to Oklahoma City or willing to relocate for required onsite work
    • Ability to work effectively with IT leadership, technical teams, and external service providers
