    Description

    Hours Per Week:

    Classroom Maintenance: 4-6 Hours per week. (Hours may vary on classroom needs)

    Gallery Assistant: 6-8 Hours per week. (Hours may vary between exhibitions)

    Work schedule is fairly flexible during the WEEK and can easily work with the student's personal academic schedule.

    The student hired would participate in both roles, Lab Aide and Gallery Assistant, and will be responsible for the duties outlined below.

    Duties to be performed for the hired position.

    • Classroom Maintenance
    • Wipe down tables, countertops, and drawing easels in each art classroom when needed, or at least once a week. (6 rooms in total)
    • Sweep and mop each art classroom once a week.
    • Vacuum the small computer lab in the art building once a week.
    • Empty and take out trash from each classroom when needed* or at least once a week.
    • Help to ensure that classrooms with sinks are consistently stocked with paper towels and hand soap or dish soap. If supplies are low in the classrooms, you will need to inform your supervisor, Brianne Witt.

    Gallery Assistant

    • The student will ASSIST with the set-up and tear-down of ALL exhibitions in the Ganton Art Gallery, no exceptions. This includes:
    • Measuring and spacing out art pieces along the gallery walls.
    • Measuring and hanging art pieces on the gallery walls.
    • Help adjust the lighting in the gallery space when necessary.
    • Vacuum the gallery and carpet in the lobby before any opening reception or event in the Ganton Art Gallery lobby.
    • The student will work as a greeter or gallery monitor at every opening reception. Dates will be provided by the supervisor, Brianne Witt.
    • The student will be asked to work some weekends to open the Ganton Art
    • Gallery and monitor the gallery until closing when there are exhibitions on display
    • in the Ganton Art Gallery. The Ganton Art Gallery is open 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on the weekends.

    Preferred Candidate:

    Current Spring Arbor University art student (major or minor) Preferred. However, we are open to considering students outside the art programs.
